We currently offer this class as a series on Mondays. If you can’t make this class, our Gentle Yoga and Absolute Beginning classes are appropriate for pregnant women. If you have not practiced yoga before, we recommend that you start off with these classes. If you were steadily practicing yoga before your pregnancy, you may continue classes at the level you’ve been practicing for as long as it feels appropriate and begin applying modifications and paying attention to what feels right in your body.
Do you offer prenatal yoga classes?
What poses should I avoid?
Things to avoid as pregnancy progresses include jumping, supine or “laid back” postures, extreme heat, deep twists and postures that put pressure on the abdomen or uterus. There are a number of modifications, specific to each trimester. This list is by no means all-inclusive. Be smart, ask questions and, again, check with your healthcare provider before beginning or continuing your practice, once you know you are pregnant.
Can I do yoga while pregnant?
Absolutely! Yoga is a great way to support your body and the newly forming bond of your child. There are precautions however so please consult with your healthcare provider and your instructor.
